Ambulance service bosses highlight ‘real and present’ cyber security threat to the NHS after Russian invasion of Ukraine

The chief executive of the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS), Helen Ray, has warned of a potential risk to NHS cyber security due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. However, robust measures have been implemented to monitor and counteract the threat. This follows historical patterns of Russian-linked cyber attacks, including the 2017 WannaCry hack which affected 61 UK NHS organisations.
