Android Malware Actively Infecting Devices to Take Full Control

Android malware “Android/Xamalicious”, using the Xamarin framework, infects devices to take full control for illegal activities such as stealing information and conducting unauthorized transactions. It is linked to the ad-fraud app “Cash Magnet” and uses social engineering for accessibility privileges. Android/Xamalicious has been detected on at least 327,000 devices and is disguising as apps in various categories available in third-party markets. Countries such as the USA, Brazil, Argentina, the UK, Spain, and Germany are most affected. McAfee and Google Play’s proactive measures aim to mitigate the impact.
