Android malware scam victims lost more than S$10 million in first half of 2023: Police

The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and banks are set to introduce more measures to tackle malware-related scams. In August, OCBC Bank led the sector in blocking some customers’ internet and mobile banking access if potentially harmful apps were downloaded from unofficial sources. The measures drew criticism from those inconvenienced, but police and MAS insist they are necessary given the increase in scams.
