Android TV Boxes Infected with Backdoors, Compromising Home Networks
Two backdoors, peachpit and badbox, have been discovered in popular Android TV boxes by cybersecurity firm Human Security. The malware can conduct ad fraud, create fake accounts, and sell access to home networks. Approximately 80% of TV boxes from US online retailers contain badbox. The malware preloads in China onto boxes that use the Android Open Source Project (AOSP).
