Appeal for O-type blood donors after cyber attack affected London hospitals

Following a ransomware attack on London hospitals, the NHS Blood and Transplant has appealed for blood type O donors to book appointments across the country. The cyber attack has disrupted the matching of patients’ blood types, accelerating the need for O-type blood. The call comes after several London hospitals declared a critical incident due to the attack by the Russian cyber-criminal group, Qilin, on pathology firm Synnovis. O type blood is universally safe for transfusion.
