Appeal for O-type blood donors after cyber attack affected London hospitals
The NHS has urged O-type blood donors in the UK to donate following a cyber attack on pathology firm Synnovis, allegedly by Russian hackers Qilin, which disrupted several London hospitals’ abilities to match patients’ blood as often as usual. NHS Blood and Transplant called for people to book appointments at one of 25 donor centres, as type O blood is safe for all patients and can be given when a patient’s blood type cannot be established.
