Ascension ‘making progress’ to restore systems after ransomware attack

Ascension health system in the US is striving to restore IT systems after a ransomware attack disrupted operations in its hospital network. Although no official attribution has been made, a CNN report suggested the Black Basta ransomware group was the culprit, with the group reportedly having impacted over 500 organizations globally since April 2022. The attack on Ascension’s affected the electronic health record systems and other crucial healthcare systems, causing some hospitals to resort to paper-based patient records.
