Ascension offloads Illinois hospitals, continuing selling spree

Ascension is set to sell nine Illinois hospitals and four care sites to Prime Healthcare, marking its entry into Illinois. The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2025, with Prime committing $250 million to the 13 properties. Ascension is reducing its hospital services to focus on ambulatory care and telehealth, and this deal will cut its Illinois portfolio in half.
