AT&T says criminals stole phone records of ‘nearly all’ customers in new data breach

AT&T confirmed a data breach exposing the phone records of almost all of its customers. Data stolen included both cellular and landline phone numbers, and AT&T records of calls and text messages from May to October 2022, along with later records for a smaller number of clients. The breach, which also exposed calling and texting metadata, was discovered on 19 April. Around 110 million customers are due to receive a notification of the event.
