Attacks on Azerbaijan Businesses Drop Malware via Fake Image Files

A spear-phishing email, which appeared to be a memo from the president of an unnamed Azerbaijani company, deposited malware into businesses related to the firm by hiding it behind images. The email, related to the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, contained a zip file with a link to malware. Fortinet’s senior security engineer Fred Gutierrez urged learning phishing signs, avoiding unknown file opening and using anti-malware software.
