Attacks on Azerbaijan Businesses Drop Malware via Fake Image Files

A spear-phishing email posing as a memo from an Azerbaijan company president has been used to infiltrate associated businesses with malware, says Fortinet. The malware was hidden in images within a zip file in the emails that mentioned the Azerbaijan-Armenia conflict. The targeted victims were management teams of companies associated with the Azerbaijan firm. Victims were infected by opening the phishing email, which initiated an automatic download of a zip file with the malware.
