Autumn date to fix hacked blood transfusion services
Synnovis, a blood testing collaboration between several NHS trusts and Synlab, has warned that its hacked blood transfusion services may not be functional until autumn. The partnership fell victim to ransomware hackers ensuing significant disruption with operations and appointments cancelled. Whilst some services have been restored, the delay has impacted planned operations. The cyber-attack forced the NHS to appeal for blood donors as stocks dropped drastically. Russian cyber-criminal group Qilin claimed responsibility for the hack and released almost 400GB of stolen data online.
