Banking apps targeted by multiple malware families

Zimperium has revealed 29 malware families targeted 1,800 banking applications worldwide in 2019. The US saw the most financial institutions targeted by banking malware, with 109, followed by the UK and Italy with 48 and 44 respectively. The cybersecurity company reported trojans were expanding to focus on cryptocurrency, social media and messaging apps, and existing banking malware was growing in sophistication and capability to conduct unauthorised money transfers, phone-based attacks and screen sharing.
