Bestie that’s not a slay! Gen Z more likely than anyone else to fall victim to cybercrime
The Australian Federal Police (AFP) has warned that young people, particularly those in the Gen Z category, are most likely to fall victim to cybercrime. Despite being tech-savvy, they are targeted due to their high use of social media, streaming services and technology in general. A report by the Australian Institute of Criminology found that almost 31% of people aged 18-24 have been victims of cybercrime. The AFP recommends using secure payment platforms, ensuring website addresses start with ‘https’, and avoiding sending money or personal details without knowing and trusting the recipient.
