Beware of malware: 43 people lose over $1.2m to travel package scams in September alone, Singapore News

Scammers stole over $1.2 million from 43 people in September by luring them with fake tour packages advertised on social media platforms. The ads led victims to a WhatsApp conversation, where scammers sent an Android Package Kit (APK) file containing malware, disguised as a payment method. This allowed scammers to access victims’ bank account details. Victims usually only realised they were scammed after discovering unauthorised bank transfers.
