BlackMatter ransomware group may have shut down operations

The BlackMatter ransomware group, which targeted healthcare organizations, has reportedly shut down operations since October 31, 2021, according to the US Department of Health and Human Services’ cybersecurity arm. The group has not claimed any victims since then, prompting a reduction in the threat level. However, the cybersecurity arm warned that other ransomware groups are likely to emerge and continue targeting healthcare entities for financial gain.
