Blackout: Engineering Firm Exposes Critical Infrastructure Data

A cybersecurity risk group has exposed a data vulnerability at US-based Power Quality Engineering (PQE), revealing that the information of clients, including Dell, Oracle and Texas Instruments, among others, was unprotected on its systems. Accessible via a port configured for public access, the breach enabled files detailing sensitive electrical infrastructure data to be downloaded. After being notified of the vulnerability, PQE took immediate action to secure the repository and denied further access.
