Blackout: Engineering Firm Exposes Critical Infrastructure Data
An unprotected data store associated with Texas-based Power Quality Engineering has potentially exposed sensitive information from clients including Dell, Texas Instruments, Oracle and the City of Austin, having been left in a repository configured for easy public access. Similar issues are set to affect up to 75% of the world’s top 500 companies, and ought to be treated as a significant business risk, according to IT research firm Gartner. The data store, found by UpGuard’s Cyber Risk Team, was removed by PQE following an alert by the security firm.
