Blockchain use case: Electronic health records

Massachusetts General Hospital is partnering with Korean blockchain startup MediBloc to explore the potential of blockchain technology for health information exchange. The aim is to develop storage and exchange mechanisms that complement the existing electronic health record system, rather than replacing it. Blockchain has the potential to address long-standing challenges in healthcare, such as interoperability and security, by enabling real-time updates and secure data sharing among healthcare providers. However, challenges still remain, including scalability, identity management, and privacy concerns.
