Blumenthal highlights IT advances for 2010
In 2010, there were significant accomplishments in health information technology. These include the certification of over 200 records and modules by approved testing and certification bodies, the enrollment of 30,000 physicians in regional extension centers, the provision of planning grants to 56 states and territories for the State Health Information Exchange Program, the establishment of 17 Beacon Communities, and the enrollment of thousands of people in training programs for health information technology. Despite challenges, the achievements in healthcare technology are noteworthy and will have a long-lasting impact.
