BMA seeking legal advice on GP liability for shared records data breaches

The British Medical Association (BMA) is seeking clarification over whether GPs could be held liable for data breaches that result from shared care records. Practices in Kent and Medway raised concerns over the use of DOCMAN GP records to share information across the Integrated Care Board’s new care record. Roughly half of practices requested to stop sharing records via DOCMAN due to the potential liability if a breach of confidentiality occurred.
