The FBI successfully thwarted a state-sponsored cyberattack on Boston’s Children’s Hospital in August 2021, according to FBI Director Christopher Wray. The attack was sponsored by the Iranian government, and the FBI’s quick response helped the hospital mitigate the threat. The incident highlights the risks posed by nation-state actors and the importance of cybersecurity measures in healthcare organizations. This is not the first time the hospital has faced a major cyberattack, having previously endured a sustained DDoS attack from Anonymous in 2014.
