Business-oriented threat involving ‘several types of malware all at once’ remains active

A malware campaign warned about by the FBI in April has targeted over 200 enterprises globally. According to cybersecurity firm Kaspersky, various kinds of malware, including cryptominers and keyloggers, are being used against targets such as government agencies and retail companies. The aim is to illicitly use the targets’ resources to mine Monero cryptocurrency, steal data and maintain further access. Neither the FBI nor Kaspersky has attributed the attacks to a specific cyberthreat group.
