A new report by ClearDATA reveals that there is a significant gap between how healthcare management and C-suite executives perceive the state of their organizations’ cloud-based cybersecurity and the actual level of security. The report found that many healthcare leaders are overly optimistic and that larger provider organizations often outsource their security and compliance. Despite the increasing risk of data hacking, 85% of IT, security, and compliance leaders in hospitals and health systems expressed confidence in their cloud security and compliance programs. However, the report also found that many providers struggle to manage security and compliance on their own, with 33% fully outsourcing in the cloud. The report highlights the need for providers to implement cybersecurity best practices and seek outside support from cloud experts to effectively modernize healthcare delivery without compromising patient security.
