Cancer patients have operations cancelled after NHS cyber attacks

siteadmin June 9, 2024

A ransomware attack on Synnovis by Russian cybercriminals Qilin has disrupted the NHS, with hundreds of cancer patients affected. A cancellation of thousands of NHS appointments and over 200 emergency operations was required, including urgent surgeries at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Foundation Trust and King’s College University Hospital. The attack has resulted in a significant disruption of patient care, blood transfusions, and the potential cancellation of more than a third of procedures and operations, including transplants and C-sections. It is still unclear whether patient data was accessed.
