Capita facing class action law suit over data breach involving GP patients

Capita is facing a class action lawsuit following a data breach that occurred earlier this year. A cyber attack on Capita, who provide back-office functionality for UK GP practices, led to files containing personal information being accessed. Law firm Barings is handling the action, with some claiming unauthorised activity on their bank accounts. The firm will pursue Capita for breaches of passport, email and home address data. In May, Capita said it would need to spend between £15-20m relating to the incident.
