Artificial intelligence (AI) has huge potential in the healthcare sector, but requires government, healthcare institution, and patient buy-in for success, according to Tim Boltz of Carahsoft. Comparing the AI evolution to the internet’s birth, Boltz touted its benefits like automating tasks to free up healthcare workers. However, he warned that the government needs to address potential institutional inequality and data privacy concerns. He also suggests updating reimbursement policies to incentivise AI use, and notes cyber incidents as a major hurdle to healthcare technology progress.
