Changing the cybersecurity culture | Healthcare IT News

Ransomware and malware attacks on hospitals and institutions, as well as internal data breaches, are common in the healthcare industry. Legacy systems and new applications both have security vulnerabilities. While some hospitals are implementing proactive cybersecurity strategies, many organizations struggle to break out of a reactive cycle. Internal processes and policy enforcement failures are more likely to leak data than external threats. Building sustainable programs and improving patch management are recommended. Cultural shifts and improved application security are also needed. Overall, progress in healthcare cybersecurity remains slow.
