Chinese genomics company accused of hack attempts by UK minister

The UK science minister, George Freeman, has told parliament that the government was aware that BGI, a Chinese genomics research company, had attempted to hack Genomics England prior to awarding the firm a Covid-19 testing contract. However, a government spokesperson later said there was no evidence BGI had tried to hack Genomics England, a company that sequences genomes from NHS patients. Freeman later amended his parliamentary record to reflect this.
