Chinese hackers breached six state governments, researchers say

The US cybersecurity firm Mandiant found that at least six state governments have been hacked by a notorious group linked to the Chinese government. The hackers exploited the log4j bug “within hours” of when it was made public. The purpose of the hacking campaign isn’t clear, but it’s deemed as aimed at aiding the Chinese government. Meanwhile, Google is purchasing Mandiant for $5.4 billion.
