Chinese Spies Hacked a Livestock App to Breach US State Networks

The Chinese cyberespionage group APT41 exploited a vulnerability in a software called USAHERDS, used to track animal diseases, to hack at least six US state governments. The stealthy campaign was disclosed by US cybersecurity firm Mandiant which claims the software bug has now been patched. It is unknown exactly what data the hackers sought.
