Chorley and Royal Preston hospitals on high alert 169 times over winter
Two hospitals in Lancashire, UK, were placed on alert 169 times last winter because of worries about patient safety. Chorley Hospital and Preston Royal Hospital declared “Opel 4” alerts 87 and 82 times respectively, according to information gathered by the BBC under freedom of information laws. Such alerts can be declared when safety could be compromised due to high demand on services.
