The U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has released new guidance on protecting sensitive data from ransomware attacks. The guidance advises organizations to maintain offline, encrypted backups, create cybersecurity and incident response plans, mitigate vulnerabilities, and practice good cyber hygiene. CISA also recommends not paying ransoms as it can embolden criminals and does not guarantee file recovery. President Biden’s administration has prioritized cybersecurity and has established initiatives to enhance cybersecurity in critical infrastructure. CISA urges organizations to adopt heightened awareness and implement the recommendations.
