CMS to Conclude Accelerated Payments for Cyberattack-Affected Healthcare Providers

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced it will end payments under the Accelerated and Advance Payment (AAP) Program for the Change Healthcare/Optum Payment Disruption (CHOPD) on July 12, 2024. The program, started after a cyberattack on Change Healthcare, aimed to alleviate cash flow problems for Medicare service providers and suppliers. At present, CMS has recovered over 96% of the CHOPD payments.
