Collaboration key for CHIME as well as for providing care

George Hickman, a board member of the College of Health Information Executives, emphasized the importance of forming partnerships in order to tackle the long and complex to-do list for the year ahead. He highlighted the partnerships CHIME has with the American Hospital Association and AHIMA, and suggested joint positions on advocacy. Keynote speaker Nate Kaufman discussed the need for organizations to operate as a team in the changing healthcare landscape, citing the potential impact of the medical home model, bundled payments, and accountable care organizations (ACOs). He also emphasized the importance of having a fully functioning IT system by 2016-2018 to avoid penalties.
