Combining radiation with chemotherapy enhances survival in oligometastatic pancreatic cancer

Adding metastasis-directed radiation therapy to standard chemotherapy has significantly improved progression-free survival in pancreatic cancer patients, according to a study by the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. The study found progression-free survival was more than quadrupled versus standard treatment alone, from 2.5 months to 10.3 months. Based on the results, a larger Phase III trial will be conducted.
