Coronavirus: Mobile networks send ‘stay at home’ text

The UK government is cooperating with mobile networks to send out alerts about the coronavirus lockdown. The alert system was trialled in 2014 but was never implemented, it would have allowed the government to bypass mobile operators to send text messages directly to users. The UK’s National Cyber Security Centre is warning the public to be cautious of other unsolicited messages related to the pandemic.
