Coronavirus: Security flaws found in NHS contact-tracing app
Security flaws have been found in the Isle of Wight’s Covid-19 contact-tracing app, currently under trial, with critics suggesting major changes and new legal protections. The researchers also want a shift from a centralised model, where contact-matching occurs on a server, to a decentralised version on users’ phones. However, Health Secretary Matt Hancock said no new law was required. The problems include potential theft of encryption keys and unencrypted data. Critics also want regulations over data use.
