Cracked macOS Software Laced with New Trojan Proxy Malware
Kaspersky has revealed that cybercriminals are exploiting cracked macOS applications to deploy a new Trojan Proxy malware via unauthorised websites. The malware, which can turn computers into anonymous traffic-forwarding terminals for malicious activities, was found disguised within popular copyrighted MacOS software on warez sites. The earliest submission of the payload on VirusTotal dates back to April 28, 2023. Kaspersky identified 35 instances of popular applications laced with Trojan Proxy, indicating a widespread distribution network.
