Critical incident declared as cyber attack affects major London hospitals

Major hospitals in London have declared a critical incident following a ransomware attack on Synnovis, a pathology services provider. The attack has affected all of Synnovis’ IT systems and disrupted its pathology services. This has led to the cancellation of some operations, and patients are being redirected to other providers. King’s College Hospital, Guy’s and St Thomas’ and GP services in south-east London are particularly affected. The NHS, backed by the National Cyber Security Centre, is urgently working to mitigate the impacts.
