Critical incident declared as cyber attack affects major London hospitals

Synnovis fell victim to a ransomware attack affecting all of its IT systems, interrupting the pathology services it provides to large hospitals and GP surgeries in London. Procedures and operations have been cancelled or transferred to other providers while the situation is assessed. The incident has been described as causing a “major impact” on service delivery, particularly blood transfusions, but emergency care is still available. A taskforce of IT experts is working to understand the situation and take appropriate action.
