Critical incident declared as cyber attack affects major London hospitals

Synnovis, a provider of pathology services for the NHS, was hit by a ransomware cyber attack disrupting its delivery of services. Blood transfusions were especially impacted, and some procedures and operations were either cancelled or redirected to other NHS service providers. The incident is being assessed by the National Cyber Security Centre and reported to law enforcement and the Information Commissioner. The attack has affected all of Synnovis’ IT systems causing interruptions to many pathology services.
