A global IT outage has caused widespread chaos impacting various sectors, including banks, supermarkets, hospitals, airlines and train services. Cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike said an update carried out by itself was the cause, but stressed it wasn’t a cyber attack. Microsoft confirmed it was investigating “service degradation” with its services and applications. Ryanair warned of potential disruption to flights and airports reported issues with their systems. Most National Rail operators reported problems, as did many GP surgeries and hospitals. Manchester United and Blackburn Rovers football clubs also faced issues.
