Cryptomining: What to know as the new cyberthreat surpasses ransomware

Cryptomining and cryptojacking have overtaken ransomware as the top threats to cybersecurity, according to Comodo Threat Labs. With cryptocurrencies’ market value exceeding $264bn in March, cybercriminals are focusing on stealing virtual currencies. Hospital IT and security teams can combat the threat by adopting basic cyberhygiene practices, such as being aware of unusual activity and using old-school methods to verify the legitimacy of emails. They should also understand their adversaries and think like attackers to better defend against cyberthreats.
