Cyber expert urges against ‘panic’ over NHS data leak

The founding chief executive of the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre, Ciaran Martin, urged the public not to panic after thousands of Scottish health board patient records were posted on the dark web by ransomware group, INC Ransom. While the leaked information includes financial data and clinical information for adults and children, Martin assures that it’s unlikely to result in ‘actual harm’ to individuals, citing minimal impact from an Australian data breach where a third of the population’s medical records were leaked.
