Cyberattack of health tech company affects more than 4 million

Health EC, a health tech company, has disclosed a cyberattack that has affected more than 4.4 million individuals in the U.S., including over 1 million residents of Michigan. The hackers accessed and copied files containing personal and medical information from Health EC’s network in July 2023. Michigan’s Attorney General is pushing for new breach notification requirements, as cyberattacks on healthcare organizations have affected over 100 million Americans in 2023.
