Cyberattack reported by pharmaceutical giant Cencora
Well, would you look at this! Seems like there’s been a bit of a kerfuffle across the pond. The bigwigs over at global pharma giant Cencora found themselves in a pickle recently. Turns out, they’ve had a bit of a data breach, and some important information got nicked right under their nose.
Wait, you haven’t heard of Cencora? That’s probably because you know them by their old name, AmerisourceBergen. This isn’t the first time they’ve been up to their neck in trouble. Last year, it looked like they were under siege by a ransomware attack claimed by some shady group called the Lorenz ransomware group.
But coming back to recent events. Cencora only realised there was a problem on the 21st February. They were puttering along just fine, and then bam… data leak! They’ve had to hunker down and start picking up the pieces after this mess.
Mind you, this isn’t just any data. We’re talking personal information that might have been exposed. And that’s bad news. However, Cencora rallied quickly, jumping into action the moment they detected the unauthorised shenanigans. They’ve got the rozzers on their side and have called in cybersecurity experts and legal eagles to help get to the bottom of it.
As of now, Cencora reckons the incident hasn’t thrown too big a spanner in their operations. Their systems are still up and running. Still, they’re keeping their cards close to their chest, not revealing whether their finances took a hit because of the breach.
What’s interesting is we don’t know exactly when all of this happened. They’ve been tight-lipped about that part. So, that leads to some head-scratching, doesn’t it?
Now, you might be wondering – is this recent cock-up somehow related to the ransomware attack last year? That’s a good question, one that hasn’t been answered yet. Attempts to get a statement from Cencora have been about as fruitful as trying to get blood from a stone – they’re keeping mum.
So there you have it, folks. A global pharmaceutical company having to scramble after suffering a data breach. Just goes to show, nobody is safe from cybersecurity threats these days. All we can do is watch as the drama unfolds and hope they button up their security moving forward.
But hey, that’s the world of healthcare and cybersecurity for you, always full of surprises. If nothing else, it does serve as a reminder to keep our guard up, doesn’t it? After all, we’d rather be safe than sorry.
