Cybercrime in the healthcare sector

The healthcare sector’s digitalisation has made it vulnerable to cybercrime, according to the National Cyber Security Centre, which dealt with 2.7 million online scams in 2021. Cyber resilience can be improved via public-private partnerships, adopting adaptive security systems utilising AI and machine learning, integrating cybersecurity operations, and staff training. The healthcare sector was second only to individual consumers as targets in 2021, bearing 12% of total attack detections.
