Cybercriminals are increasingly using remote management tools and open remote access products for malicious activities, according to WatchGuard. The Medusa ransomware variant surged in Q3, driving endpoint ransomware attacks up by 89%. To protect against such threats, organisations must stay informed, provide social engineering education and employ unified security measures including firewalls and endpoint protection software. However, with social engineering attacks, the end user remains the final defence against infiltration.
