Cybercriminals could hack into medical devices used in NHS hospitals

siteadmin June 17, 2019

Medical devices used in UK National Health Service (NHS) hospitals could be hacked by cybercriminals, warns US cybersecurity firm CyberMDX. The potential breach by hackers could target hospital wards’ online workstations and result in unauthorised access and control of IV pumps. The security flaw could potentially bear fatal consequences to patients by disrupting chemotherapy treatments and insulin dosages. Cybercriminals are yet to infiltrate the NHS, however this warning comes as concerns in NHS computer systems are high due to the 2017 WannaCry ransomware attack.
